Silicone Lick Mat with Suction Base

A one-piece food-grade silicone mat with four textured zones — honeycomb cells, a bone pattern, fine ridges and raised nubs. Spread wet food, yoghurt, pumpkin or a favourite paste across it and a thirty-second meal becomes several minutes of licking and working.

Sticks where you put it

Suction cups cover the whole back of the mat, so it holds to smooth surfaces instead of being carried off across the kitchen. It works on tile, sealed hardwood, glass, a bath surround and the side of the fridge. Small bone-shaped tabs at the top and bottom give you something to grip when peeling it off.

Two sizes

• Small — 15.5 × 15.5 cm (6.1 × 6.1 in). Good for cats, kittens and small dogs, or for a short distraction
• Large — 20 × 20 cm (7.9 × 7.9 in). Roughly 68% more surface, and the better choice for medium and large dogs or a full portion of wet food

Why people use them

Licking takes time, which is the whole idea: it slows down a fast eater, and it gives a dog or cat something absorbing to do during bath time, nail trims or a quiet evening. That's a fair description of what a lick mat does — we won't tell you it treats anxiety, because that isn't something we can back up.

Care

Rinse and scrub with a brush. Filling it and freezing it makes the whole thing last considerably longer, which is worth knowing in summer.

This one ships direct from our overseas supplier, so plan on 2 to 3 weeks to reach you. Tracking is issued at dispatch but often sits quiet for the first week or so before it starts updating — that's normal for this route and not a sign anything has gone wrong.
