Hooded Microfibre Pet Drying Robe

A wearable robe in thick absorbent microfibre, not a towel you have to hold. It goes on over the back, wraps across the chest, and ties with a matching belt. There is a hood for the head and ears and openings for the front legs, so it stays where you put it while your dog does what they were going to do anyway.

Why a robe beats a towel

The awkward part of drying a dog isn't the first thirty seconds, it's the ten minutes afterwards when a wet dog is loose in the house. A robe keeps the water in the fabric rather than on your sofa, and it carries on drying while your dog sits, shakes and wanders around.

It's genuinely useful after a muddy winter walk, not just after a bath.

Getting the size right

This comes in XS, S and M, cut to small-dog proportions — so it suits small and smaller-medium dogs rather than the big breeds.

Measure along your dog's back, from the base of the neck to the base of the tail, and pick the size that matches. A robe that's slightly long still works. One that's too short leaves the back end wet, which defeats the object.

Practical notes

• The belt does the work — tie it, or the robe rotates
• Microfibre releases fur easily, which matters if you're washing it often
• The hood is optional in practice; plenty of dogs shake it off and the robe still does its job

Care

Machine wash warm and air dry, or tumble on low. Skip fabric softener — it coats microfibre and makes it noticeably less absorbent, which is the one thing you bought it for.
